About Me
Great to meet you!
I was born in Seattle, WA to an architect dad and an aerospace-engineer-turned-theater-producer mom. I first realized how much I wanted to teach in my Junior year of high school, and moved to Vancouver in 2016 to pursue a combined BA in English Literature and Language at the University of British Columbia with a minor in creative writing.
I graduated from UBC Vancouver in the spring of 2020, near the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, and moved to Bellingham, WA where I attended graduate school at Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education. In early 2021 I began serving as a practicum student at Squalicum High School. I then transitioned into a full-time student teaching role in January of 2022 and left Bellingham—after countless logged hours of teaching, mentoring, and planning evocative lessons—with a Masters in Teaching and an endorsement to teach secondary education in Washington State.
I taught at Napavine Jr/Sr High School in Napavine, WA in 2022-2023, took a year off to work at my childhood neighborhood’s independent bookstore (sending all love to Queen Anne Book Company, voted the #1 bookstore in the Pacific Northwest!), and currently teach 6th, 7th, and 9/10th grade Literature and Language Arts at Willows Preparatory School in Redmond, WA. I’m very lucky to call it my teaching home for the foreseeable future!
I am an avid musician and producer; I have played piano for 22 years and have self-produced, mixed, and mastered more than four full-length LPs of electronic pop and piano jazz. I also love cinematography, video editing, designing graphic visual art, writing and publishing poetry, and reading interesting and evocative metafiction that continually alters my definition of “literature” and “language.”
